Terrorism Awareness Training

2 Day Course (0800 – 1600)

This training course will prepare learners to successfully recognise, report, and react to potential terrorist incidents.

Learners will develop a broad understanding of terrorism to include a definition of terrorism as well as examples of terrorist groups and targets. Additionally, learners will gain insight into the importance of protecting private sector resources through awareness-level training.

Awareness to list various weapons of mass destruction (WMD), relay indicators of potential terrorist activity and outline actions to be taken in the event of a potential terrorist attack.

Course Objectives:

  • Define and describe various factors of terrorism.
  • Report potential terrorist threats to supervisors or security personnel.
  • React to potential terrorist threats, employing the concept of “Time, Distance, and Shielding”.
  • Recognise suspicious activity, vehicles, and objects.
  • List and recognise various examples of WMD.

This training course will not only disseminate weapons of mass destruction (WMD) training to private sector critical infrastructure entities but will also serve to bridge preparedness gaps by spurring a more productive interaction between public and private sectors.

Increasing the private sector’s awareness level will spark a stronger interest and consideration for what the public sector provides. Consequently, this course will serve as a catalyst for the private sector to take a stronger role in its own protection. The promotion of private sector relationships with local public agencies will generate greater protection and a safer environment for all residents.

This course will enhance awareness of the need to bring preventive measures to the forefront of the public mind, thereby generating a hand-in-hand cooperation between public and private safety agencies to protect our nation’s interests.
